ALL CDLS members receive the same benefits, from our discounts in shops, retail centres, restaurants, hotels and event spaces across Cardiff to our free training and social events, as well as discounted events and activities (see below).

The CDLS Membership Card & Membership Discounts

Members of the Cardiff & District Law Society receive a Membership Card, which entitles them to benefits/discounts from various local businesses.

PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to offer a product or service discount to our membership, covering the whole of Cardiff & District and to the largest regional law society network of legal professionals in Wales, please contact the Marketing Secretary, Emma Waddingham.

Other Benefits At A Glance

In addition to the discounts above, CDLS members also receive: 

  • A free e-newsletter containing legal news, special offers, event updates, recruitment opportunities and other content sent at least once per month. Members are asked to send us their preferred email address so that we can compliantly store and send content to them (from a mialing platform that allows you to change your details and unsubscribe at any time). 
  • Members can share news via the e-newsletter and also on our website.
  • A free copy of Legal News magazine is sent to individual members / corporate members (once the number of copies requested and a DX / postal address has been supplied to the Membership Secretary.
  • FREE entry to our social events (see below)
  • FREE entry to our regular training and professional development events.
  • Significantly discounted tickets for larger events / conferences and our Annual Dinner.
  • Representation and support on national consultations that affect our sector.

Regular social events

As well as our busy President's Annual Dinner in April / May each year, the Society organises regular smaller social events. Events include regular socials and networking evenings to take advantage of leading discounts at leading Cardiff bars and restaurants (and to connect members), organising the annual Music / Concert Racenight at the Chepstow Racecourse; and (supporting the Confederation of South Wales Law Societies) a fabulous “Summer Soiree”. In the past 12 months we have also organised very well-attended charity quiz nights, a Children's Christmas Party in December and we are just about to launch our first charity golf event. Contact with the local judiciary

There is contact and liaison between the local Courts and the Cardiff & District Law Society.

Working committees, working for your interests

The Society has a number of working committees comprised of Council members and co-opted members drawn from the membership. This allows members to assist in forming policies and dealing with issues that affect the profession.

Have your say

The Cardiff & District Law Society is the largest local Law Society in Wales, whose views are heard in Chancery Lane. You could add your voice for notice to be taken nationally.

Looking to the future

There is regular contact and liaison with the local Junior Lawyers Division which is represented at the Cardiff & District Law Society’s monthly Council meetings.

Remember, benefits are subject to presentation of a valid Membership Card and only those individuals registered as members on the database for Cardiff & District Law Society are entitled to use the Membership Card – So don’t delay, join today!
